Join us for class where you’ll learn how to knit a cozy hat from start to finish using the magic loop technique, no double-pointed needles required! This method is perfect for knitting smaller circumferences in the round with a long circular needle, and once you learn it, you can use it for sleeves, socks, mittens, and more.

Session 1 – Getting Started (Cast-On & Magic Loop Technique)
Goals:
Introduce the magic loop method and how it compares to DPNs/circulars
Teach long-tail cast-on onto a long circular needle (usually 32" or 40")
Join in the round correctly without twisting
Practice dividing stitches for magic loop (half on each needle)
Review tension and how to avoid laddering between halves
Begin the ribbing/brim (about 1–2" depending on pattern)
Goals:
Introduce the magic loop method and how it compares to DPNs/circulars
Teach long-tail cast-on onto a long circular needle (usually 32" or 40")
Join in the round correctly without twisting
Practice dividing stitches for magic loop (half on each needle)
Review tension and how to avoid laddering between halves
Begin the ribbing/brim (about 1–2" depending on pattern)
Homework:
Finish the brim and start the body up to decrease section
Session 2 – Shaping & Finishing
Goals:
Review progress and troubleshoot tension or laddering
Demonstrate decreasing with magic loop
Explain how to switch to fewer stitches near the crown (and adjust loop)
Teach how to thread yarn tail through last stitches
Discuss blocking and finishing touches (optional pom, measuring for size, etc.)
Optional: weave in ends and celebrate finished hats!

- 110-275 Yards of Worsted Weight Yarn depending on size
- Size 40" US 6 and US 7 needles
