On a scotch tension wheel, the ratio does most of the work of controlling both twist and take-up together, which is why a wider ratio range is necessary. On the Aura, the bobbin drive handles take-up completely independently, so even the slowest flyer ratio can produce fine laceweight yarn by dialing the bobbin tension down to almost nothing and letting twist accumulate freely.
