The Pyukkleen Cowl, is an incredible Colorwork knit by the talented Ysolda Teague. This fashionably cozy cowl was designed to be knit with 6 colors of Jamieson's Shetland Heather Aran Yarn, a soft spun, durable, 100% Shetland Wool yarn considered to be the holy grail to many knitters. The inspiration for this cowl was taken from the designer's bicycle trip around Shetland and the ever changing scenery around her. The flora and fauna of the Scottish landscape translate beautifully into the colourful, heathered yarn.

Please note: The 6 colors in each kit can be arranged in whichever way you prefer, no need to stick to a rigid Color guide. Let your imagination run wild with these gorgeously heathered yarns.

This is an excellent first introduction into stranded colour work with its geometric patterns, short floats and lack of steeking. This cowl knits up with US 9 needles and uses approximately 375 yards of Shetland Heather Yarn. Don't forget about the transformative powers of a nice wet-blocking for your Shetland project. A simple raw knit can become absolutely beautiful.

Designer notes:

"On a recent trip to Shetland with my bicycle I had to pack everything into two panniers and had promised myself I wouldn’t acquire anything, not even yarn. Ha. After a couple of days slowly riding up the hills with plenty of time to observe the constantly shifting colours of the landscape I couldn’t resist this armful of blues, golds and rich browns. A sampler of some of my favourite nought and cross and peerie patterns allow the colours to shine in a subtly shaded pattern, although two colours would be equally effective. Stranded colour work in Aran weight creates a fabulously warm fabric with plenty of body that means the loose cowl can stand up to protect your nose from the wind or be pulled down into attractive gathers." - Ysolda Teague
