Recycled Multicolor Sari RIBBON YARN from Nepal 100g 25yd

We have run out of stock for this item.

This Sari RIBBON Yarn is very unique for many crafting projects including weaving, knitting, and crocheting. It is made from cut strips of sari fabric and tied end to end.  This is a great choice for wilder projects and embellishing; the possibilities are endless! No two skeins are alike and some even have velvet pieces or beaded sections!

Approximately 100g/ 25yds varying thicknesses of ribbon and color made from recycled saris.

Recycled ribbon yarn is the by-product of the colorful saris that women wear in South Asia. It is the loose ends of saris collected from industrial mills in India that are hand-spun into yarn in Nepal. The vibrant colors and unique texture of these silk fibers and silk yarn are inspirational to designers, knitters, and artisans of all types. The popularity of recycled silk yarn has extended beyond Nepal and India and has created an empowering cottage industry primarily benefiting women. This yarn is made of completely recycled sari material from recycled clothing in Nepal.

We work with women's development groups in Nepal to produce this unique yarn and other silk yarn products. Purchasing this yarn provides additional income to support and improve their family earnings.

Please leave an order note if you would prefer a specific range of colors and we will try to meet your project needs.
