This hand-turned Nordic drop spindle was adapted from the work of, Priscilla Gibson-Robers, a Norwegian fiber anthropologist. Careful craftmanship and artistry ensures an unmatched unwavering ability to effortlessly assist you in spinning thin to thick yarns of any fiber type. The whorl of each spindle can be taken off by sliding it off the shaft, making it ideal for traveling with you wherever you might go.  

Available in two sizes.

Mini: 0.6 oz version of the Nordic, a wonderful weight for merino and other fine fibers. 10" poplar shaft and 3" diameter walnut whorl that detaches for travel.

Standard: 1.9 oz version of the Nordic, a wonderful weight for merino and other fine fibers. 15" poplar shaft and 4" diameter walnut whorl that detaches for travel.

Each fiber has its own feel and function. Merino is super soft and great for next-to-skin wear. BFL (Bluefaced Leicester) is strong, with a lovely luster. Need help deciding? Reach out! We’re happy to help.

For Yarn, check your pattern's yardage requirements. A standard pair of socks usually takes 100g of fingering weight, while a hat takes about 100g of worsted.For Spinning Fiber, a standard 4oz braid will generally make a pair of socks or a hat.
