Fine Polwarth Wool Top
Also formerly known as 100% Certified Organic Polwarth Wool Top, due to shipping limitations can no longer be truly certified Organic. It comes from the same two family farms and is the same great quality.
Originally from the great land down under. This Australian breed was first developed in Victoria in the 1880s by crossing Lincolns with Merinos. Today, the Polwarth breed is 1/4 Lincoln and 3/4 Merino with the majority of the breed hailing from Australia. This wool, however, was selected from two family farms on the Falkland Islands and measures an incredible 22 microns. Sheep that are raised organically are not subject to mulesing, and they are not dipped for pesticides. In addition, the number of sheep allowed to graze in any give pasture area is limited to the natural carrying capacity of the land. And as with most wool that comes from the Falklands, it is very white.
Noted for its elasticity and durability, it is still considered a delicate fiber with bounce and drape. Your finished projects weather spinning, weaving, felting, knitting, crocheting, etc. will last generations with this resilient and soft fiber.
