The Schacht Arras Tapestry Loom is a tensioned tapestry loom with a 20 In weaving width, a 45 In continuous warp and a shedding device that changes sheds with one lever. It sits on a tabletop as it comes, and you set the height and angle that suit you, upright for weaving or flat for warping.
It's built from solid maple hardwood and maple plywood, so the frame holds its shape under the high warp tension tapestry needs. The shedding device handle goes on the right or the left, the cartoon holder keeps your design right behind the warp, and the legs fold for storage.
What's in the box
- The loom, assembly required. Assembly takes a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
- The shedding device with its two heddle rods.
- 100 Texsolv heddles.
- Warp coils for 4, 5, 6 and 8 dent. You can double the threads in a coil for a closer sett.
Build your Arras
The loom works on a tabletop as shipped. Everything below is sold separately, so add the pieces you need now or later.
- Arras Beam Kit: ratcheted warp and cloth beams for warps longer than 45 In. It fits any Arras, including one already assembled.
- Schacht raddle for warps up to 20 In wide: the raddle you warp the Beam Kit with.
- Arras Stand: puts the loom on its own legs with 11 In of height adjustment. It fits any Arras, with or without the Beam Kit.
- Arras Treadle Kit: works the shedding device with your feet. It mounts on the Arras Stand, so you'll need the Stand as well.
- Arras Trap: a cloth tool tray that mounts on the loom, or on the front legs of the Stand.
- Extra 4 In Texsolv heddles for the Arras: the 100 in the box carry 100 warp ends, about 12 In of width at 8 ends per inch, so a wider piece at that sett needs more.

For Yarn, check your pattern's yardage requirements. A standard pair of socks usually takes 100g of fingering weight, while a hat takes about 100g of worsted.For Spinning Fiber, a standard 4oz braid will generally make a pair of socks or a hat.
