Fiber Content: 100% Black Welsh Wool Mountain Top

Black Welsh is a favorite among fiber artists looking for high quality spinning fiber.

The Welsh sheep is the only purely black breed of sheep to be found in the UK. Its fleece is fine enough to be used in specialty products and is long enough to be combed. With it's Dark natural reddish black color and staple length of 3.1-3.9 inches (80-100 mm) and a micron count of 31-35; this fiber is suitable for that natural next to skin wool scratch that some people love or for outerwear. Black Welsh Mountain Sheep fiber is most suitable for making-up into cloth which is durable, light and warm. When used with good quality white wool it blends into attractive checks and patterns. Floor rugs and chair backs are prized in this fiber. This fiber has taken top honors in the mountain and the colored fleece classes at shows.

Perfect for hand spinning, hand felting and many other craft uses.
