This is GRADE A natural Tussah Silk that has been bleached for an ideal white color. In It's more natural state tussah silk has a light golden yellow hue to it.
Tussah Silk is a protein fiber produced by the silkworm that eat the leaves off of whatever tree they live on. The fibers have a long staple length of 5-8 inches, and have a natural shine to them.
Noil is the short fiber left over from combing wool or spinning silk and used as a decorative additive for many spinning projects like rovings and yarns.
Perfect for adding texture to a carded batt.
Use in a felted soap bar project to give your soap more shine, more lather, and a nice silky feel.
Blend it in with your favorite wool to add a bit of shine and luxury to your finished project.
