Atenea Tones from Concept by Katia is a light, softly brushed lace-weight yarn of 42% extrafine merino, 40% Mako cotton and 18% cashmere. Long-cycle multicolor dyeing moves slowly from one shade to the next, so a single ball gives gentle, painterly transitions without any color changes on your part.

The brushed finish gives a hazy, mohair-like halo without the need to hold a second strand, and the cotton keeps it breathable. At 191 yards per 25 g ball, it knits very light, airy garments and accessories.

Questions about Atenea Tones

What is Atenea Tones made of?

42% extrafine merino wool, 40% Mako cotton and 18% cashmere.

Is it a mohair substitute?

In look, yes. The brushed construction gives a soft halo similar to mohair, so it suits patterns written for brushed or mohair-style yarns. It contains no mohair.

How do the colors change?

Each ball is dyed in long color cycles, so the shades transition slowly across the fabric. Join new balls at the same point in the color sequence if you want a seamless look.

How do I wash it?

Hand wash and lay flat to dry. It can also be dry cleaned.
