180° Hat by Stefanie Bold

I just have to share with you the latest hat I finished knitting.  First of all, let me just say that I love knitting hats.  As I have said before, knitting in the round cannot be beat and I really enjoy getting to finish a project in one sitting.  Hats are perfect to accomplish both of these wants on my knitting checklist.

Knit it Sideways

180° Hat by Stefanie Bold is a departure from the traditional hat and it was so much fun to make.  This pattern is so beautifully written and easy to follow, knitting it was a dream.  If you just want to knit, following a well-written pattern, without having to think too much then this pattern is for you!  You begin with a magic cast on and knit your hat from one side to the other.  Increases are added at regular intervals and as your half circle grows you see your hat come to life in a way you have never seen a hat materialize before.  This hat requires no purling, a huge plus for many knitters.  After you complete the middle section you begin the decreases to mirror the look on both sides.  Then you kitchener stitch close the hat and you have a super fun and unique slouchy hat that all your friends will want to make or should I say want you to make for them?

Yarn Selection

Have you caught on the fact that I can’t stay away from color yet?  I made this hat from some Madelinetosh yarn that I had leftover from my Marled Magic MKAL.  When you use two different colors and alternate every four rows the design of the 180° just pops.  I am not going to be able to knit just one of these so for my next one, I will be using some of Madelintosh Tosh Merino Light.  The color options are incredible and include solids, semi-solids, variegated, and speckled.  This yarn a single that will provide a slight halo to the finished hat that will be delightful.  If you are looking for a new way to knit a hat, this pattern is for you!
