The Majacraft Aura Overdrive is the same handcrafted New Zealand Rimu wheel as the standard Aura, built for spinners who want to work at a genuinely different scale. Developed with input from Suzy Brown of Woolwench, who provided much of the drive behind its completion and carried out extensive testing during development, the Overdrive takes the Aura's acclaimed double drive system and pairs it with a bobbin so large it holds over a gallon of yarn. Five litres. Roughly five times the capacity of the already-generous Jumbo bobbin. This is production spinning.

The secret to why it works at that size is the same double drive system that makes the standard Aura so responsive. The bobbin is directly driven rather than brake-controlled, which means it stays light and consistent right to the finish regardless of how full it gets. No inertia creep, no constant tension readjustment as the bobbin fills. You set it up, and it keeps behaving the same way from the first yard to the last.

Like the standard Aura, the Overdrive head uses the hybrid double drive tensioning system with independent control over the strength and speed of the draw. It is not purely a bulky yarn tool. The same tension flexibility that makes the Aura capable of laceweight applies here, though most spinners will reach for the Overdrive when they want to spin large quantities of textured, bulky, or art yarn without stopping to wind off.

One important practical note: standard Majacraft accessories do not fit the Overdrive head due to the larger flyer axle. The Overdrive Tensioned Lazy Kate is purpose-built for this head and is the right companion for plying at this scale. Additional Overdrive bobbins are sold separately and worth having on hand.
