Piña Colada is a Paradise Fibers custom spinning blend of 75% merino wool, 20% pineapple fiber and 5% mulberry silk, in summery bright cyan, deep orange and white. It is a tropical twist for your spinning, and as refreshing as its name.
The soft, springy merino balances the crisp sheen of pineapple fiber, and a touch of mulberry silk adds smoothness and light. Together they spin into cool, lustrous, drapey yarns made for warm-weather projects.

How it spins
The merino carries the blend, so it drafts easily. Pineapple fiber is a smooth, slippery plant fiber, so add a little more twist than you would for pure wool. Split the top lengthwise to keep the color runs bright, or pre-draft and blend for a softer mix of shades.

What is pineapple fiber?
Pineapple fiber is a plant fiber made from the leaves of the pineapple plant. It is smooth, lustrous and cool to the touch, a lot like linen or banana fiber.
Is it good for summer garments?
Yes. The pineapple fiber and silk add coolness and drape, and the merino keeps the yarn soft and elastic.
How much fiber do I need?
Plan on about 4 oz for a hat or small shawlette, 8 oz for a generous shawl or scarf, and 1½ to 2 lb for an adult sweater. Buy it all at once: this is a small-batch blend and may not be restocked.
How is it priced?
Sold by the ounce. Quantity pricing applies automatically at 4 oz, 8 oz, 1 lb, 2 lb and 5 lb, so buying for a sweater costs far less per ounce than buying a single sample.
