Fiber Content: Dyed Firestar Nylon

Dark is a near-black charcoal with a metallic glint. It is the one to reach for when you want sparkle in a deep or moody blend, because it adds shimmer and depth without lightening the colors around it.

What Is Firestar Nylon Top?

Firestar is a fine, combed nylon top with a trilobal fiber cross-section. That three-sided shape catches and reflects light far more than a round fiber does, which gives Firestar its signature shimmer and sparkle. It is smooth, lightweight, and slippery to the touch, so a small amount adds brilliance without adding bulk or changing the hand of your blend. Firestar is 100% nylon, an animal-free, vegan way to add shine.

How to Use It

Pull off a few grams and blend it into wool or other fibers on hand carders, a blending board, or a drum carder, or layer it into rolags and art batts. It spins beautifully as an accent in handspun yarn and adds a glint to both needle felting and wet felting. Because it is so deep, Dark adds sparkle without lightening the blend, so you can use a little more before it shifts your base color.
