The Addi Mystic Rocket is the second product in Addi's Velvet Touch platform, launched in 2025 as the year-round companion to the seasonal addiChristmas. Solid anodized aluminum tips with a soft pink-to-mauve finish that warms toward bronze at the brass ferrule, fine Lace points, and a flexible gold polyamide cord joined with brass ferrules. Made in Altena, Germany by Addi since 1829.
The Velvet Touch finish is anodized aluminum, not plated brass. It warms to the touch the way wood needles do, with more grip than polished metal and less drag than bamboo. The matte velvety surface helps slippery yarns hold their shape on the needle, and the finish is anti-glare in any lighting, which keeps stitches readable on dark fingering weight and lace patterns where reflection from polished metal can fight the eye. Lace tips handle fine yarns and intricate stitch patterns without splitting plies.
Choose your length
The Mystic Rocket comes in five fixed-circular lengths. Match the length to the project circumference: shorter for hats, sleeves, and small in-the-round work; longer for sweater bodies, shawls, and magic loop.
- 24 In / 60 cm: hats, sleeves, cowl tops, small in-the-round work.
- 32 In / 80 cm: sweater bodies, blanket centers, the workhorse length for adult garments.
- 40 In / 100 cm: large shawls, sweater bodies with extra ease, magic loop on adult sweaters.
- 47 In / 120 cm: magic loop, oversize sweater bodies, large shawls.
- 60 In / 150 cm: blankets, the longest shawl edges, magic loop on the longest projects.
Sizes available
Each length comes in 16 sizes spanning US 0 through US 11, including 2.25 mm and 2.75 mm metric intermediates. Metric diameters are exact and machined to spec. US size labels are approximate equivalents that Addi maps to the metric standard. When in doubt, knit to the mm value.
Mystic vs Turbo vs Lace vs Olive Wood
Addi's range covers four substantial circular needle constructions, each with its own feel. The Turbo is hollow plated brass with a rounded tip, fast on smooth yarns. The Lace is the same hollow plated brass with a sharper tip, designed for fine yarns and lace patterns. The Olive Wood needle is solid hardwood, warm and grippy with a fine tip. The Mystic Rocket is the newest construction: solid anodized aluminum with the Lace tip geometry, sitting in the gap between plated metal and wood. It is lighter than brass, warmer than brass, and grippier than brass, while keeping the fine point geometry of the Lace.
