The Standard Fast whorl is the second of the two whorls included with the Kromski Sonata Encore, and the natural next step up from the whorl that ships standard with the Fantasia. If you spin fingering, sock yarn, or fine three-ply singles, this is the whorl that lives on your flyer.
Two ratio grooves on one whorl. The slower groove handles balanced fingering-weight three-ply. The faster groove holds enough twist for tight sock singles and finer worsted-spun yarns. Swap to the Extra Fast whorl when you move to laceweight or fine cotton.
Fits the Kromski Fantasia and Sonata Encore
This is a magnetic-flyer whorl. It will fit any Kromski wheel with a magnetic flyer head:
- Kromski Fantasia (all production)
- Kromski Sonata Encore (one of the two whorls included standard)
- Original Sonata wheels upgraded with the Magnetic Sonata Flyer Head Set
If you have an original (pre-Encore) Sonata with the traditional non-magnetic mother of all, this whorl will not fit until you add the magnetic flyer upgrade.
Ratios on this whorl
Drive wheel diameter changes the effective ratio, so the same whorl produces slightly different ratios on each wheel.

A standard pair of socks usually takes 100g of fingering weight, while a hat takes about 100g of worsted.For Spinning Fiber, a standard 4oz braid will generally make a pair of socks or a hat.
