Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Tweed is a four-ply Aran weight spun from the same Peruvian Highland fleece as the original Woolstok, then flecked with Donegal. It is soft and lofty with a rustic character that reads as depth rather than noise, so cables, textured stitches and plain stockinette all hold up under it.
Composed of 85% Fine Highland Wool and 15% Donegal, each 100g hank offers approximately 109 yards (100 meters). It works on needle sizes US 9-11 (5.5-8 mm) at a gauge of 3-5 stitches per inch, which puts a hat or a pair of mitts inside an evening or two.
Check the yardage before you substitute. At 109 yards per 100g, Woolstok Tweed runs roughly half the length per gram of Woolstok Worsted, so a pattern written for the worsted needs about twice the weight in Tweed and will knit up denser and warmer.
This is untreated wool and it felts readily, so wash it by hand or have it dry cleaned. Use tepid water and a mild soap, do not agitate or twist, then shape the piece and dry it flat on a towel.
