Starry Night is a Paradise Fibers spinning blend in black, bright blue and yellow. It's 60% extra fine merino, 25% tussah silk and 15% Firestar nylon, combed together in two passes into a ready-to-spin top.
Each fiber carries its own color. The black and most of the blue are merino, which gives the yarn its bounce. All of the yellow is tussah silk, which adds a soft glow. The rest of the blue is Firestar nylon, and it adds a fine sparkle you'll see in the finished yarn.

How it spins
Silk takes more twist than wool to hold, so check your twist early. Spin an arm's length, let it hang and see what it does. If it drifts apart when you tug it, add twist. If it kinks hard back on itself, ease off.
For runs of solid color, peel the top apart along its color stripes and spin each color's strip in turn. For a yarn where the colors mix more closely, pre-draft and spin from the fold. A chain ply keeps the colors in longer stretches.

How much fiber do I need?
Spin a sample, measure its yards per pound, and divide your pattern's yardage by it, plus 15 to 20% to spare. A 1,200-yard worsted sweater comes to about 1 1/2 lb.
Will the colors stay separate or blend together?
It depends on how you prepare it. Peel the top apart along its color stripes for runs of solid color, or pre-draft and spin from the fold for a yarn where the colors mix more closely.
