    A compact hand crank winder that makes a center pull cake from a skein or hank, so the yarn feeds from the middle and stays where you put it.

    The clamp is what sets this one apart. It opens to 2.6 inches, so it takes a thick kitchen counter, a butcher block, or a heavy work table.

    Using it

    Clamp it down, thread the yarn through the guide, and wrap it around the top of the spindle before you start turning.

    Let the yarn come off the skein with no tension on it, from a swift or a helper's hands. That is what gives you an even cake.

    Lift the finished cake straight up off the spindle and pull your working end from the center.
