Paradise Fibers Super Swift II - Wooden Yarn Swift

The Super Swift II is an Amish-style yarn swift, built in our woodshop in maple, walnut or cherry. It lies flat on the tabletop with four arms turning on a square base, and a peg on each arm holds the skein open while you wind it into a ball or cake.

Each arm block slides along its arm and locks with a thumbscrew, so you set the pegs to the skein you're winding. It doesn't need a clamp, so it works on any table, counter or desk, and it collapses to travel in its bag.

Choosing a wood

Maple, walnut and cherry share the same design and every dimension, so choose the wood by its color and grain.

Spares and a ball winder

Each arm block is sold on its own as the Replacement Arm Block Assembly, in all three woods. To turn the skein into a center pull cake, pair the swift with the Lacis Red Yarn Ball Winder II for a 4 oz skein or the Lacis Jumbo for 10 oz in one cake. Every model is in Ball Winders, and the umbrella swifts are in Yarn Swifts.
