The heaviest hitter in the Unicorn lineup. Power Scour is built for raw fleece, heavily soiled fiber, and anything that needs a serious clean without damaging what's underneath. Enhanced for hard water use, effective at lower temperatures, and tough enough to tackle grease, lanolin, clay, suint, and even red wine stains. Fresh lavender scent. Biodegradable and made in the USA.

What it's great for

Scouring raw wool, mohair, and other high-lanolin fleeces, removing lanolin from woolies before re-lanolizing, treating tough stains, deep cleaning grease and grime, washing cloth diapers, and eliminating odors in heavily soiled items like pet beds and gym clothes.

How to use: hand washing

Mix Power Scour into hot water before adding your fiber. For 1 lb of fiber, use 1 tablespoon (1/2 oz) with 2 gallons of water. Submerge fiber loosely and soak for 15 to 20 minutes, keeping the water temperature consistent throughout. Drain and rinse once or twice with water of the same temperature. For heavily soiled or greasy fiber, a second soak using half the amount of Power Scour may be needed.

How to use: machine washing

For a top loader, use 2.5 oz of Power Scour per 5 lbs of fiber on a large wash setting with hot water. Mix Power Scour into the water first, then distribute fiber evenly. Use only the soak or delicate cycle. Rinse 1 to 2 times and spin. HE washer compatible, use the soak or delicate setting and keep loads loose to allow water to move freely.

Temperature guide

High-lanolin fibers like wool and mohair do best at 140°F (60°C). Less oily fibers like alpaca and cashmere can be washed at a lower 120°F (50°C). For harder water or larger water volumes, increase Power Scour by about 1 oz per 5 gallons. For clay deposits or exceptionally greasy fiber, consider a pre-soak before the main wash.

Using with other Unicorn products

Power Scour is the first step. Once your fiber is scoured and rinsed, follow up with Fibre Rinse to condition, add softness, and provide anti-static control. If dyeing, apply Fibre Rinse after the dye process to help lock in color.

Available in 4 oz, 16 oz, and 1 gallon. Prefer fragrance-free? Try Beyond Clean.
