ChiaoGoo Forté 2.0 Special Edition Interchangeable Knitting Needle Set

The ChiaoGoo Forté 2.0 is ChiaoGoo's flagship interchangeable set: two premium tip materials across the full size range, three cable lengths, and a complete tool kit in one zippered case. This is the 5-inch complete set, model 4500-C.

Two tip materials across the full range

The smaller sizes are stainless steel and carbon fiber: eight pairs from US 2 (2.75 mm) to US 8 (5 mm), including US 2.5, a size most complete sets leave out. The larger sizes are stainless steel and African Blackwood: six pairs from US 9 (5.5 mm) to US 15 (10 mm), for 14 pairs of 5-inch tips in all. Carbon fiber keeps the small tips light and stiff at the finest sizes, while African Blackwood gives the larger needles a warm feel and a little more grip on slippery yarns. Tips join the cables with a screw-on join you tighten with the key.

Two cable systems: SWIV360 and TWIST

The set includes six memory-free silver SWIV360 cables, a small and a large in each of the 14, 22, and 30 inch lengths. Added to the tips they build circulars of 24, 32, and 40 inches, and the SWIV360 join swivels so the cable rotates freely as you work. Three small red TWIST cables at the same lengths give a smooth, fixed transition when you do not want the swivel.

Getting a secure connection

ChiaoGoo builds this set to be tightened with the included tools, not just finger-tight. Slip the T-shaped key through the lifeline hole at the cable join and use it to snug each tip onto the cable every time you attach one, and wrap the rubber gripper around the tip for extra hold. Use the key again to loosen a tip when you swap sizes. A fully seated join is what keeps a tip from working loose or snagging mid-project.

Compatibility and expanding your set

The carbon tips use ChiaoGoo's [S] join and the blackwood tips use the [L] join, so they interchange with any ChiaoGoo [S] and [L] cables, connectors, and end stoppers, including TWIST and SPIN parts. Join two cables with a connector for a longer one, add lengths the set does not include, or pair the small tips with 2-inch cables to make flexible double-pointed needles. Frequently asked questions

Will the cables coil or hold their shape? No. Both the SWIV360 and TWIST cables are memory-free multi-strand steel, so they lie flat and do not keep coils from the package.

Can I make double-pointed needles with this set? Yes. Pair the small carbon fiber tips with a set of 2-inch cables (sold separately) to use them as flexible double-pointed needles.

Do the tips and cables work with my other ChiaoGoo needles? Yes. The [S] tips fit any ChiaoGoo [S] cable and the [L] tips any [L] cable, including TWIST and SPIN, because the joins share the same screw sizes.

A tip worked loose. What should I do? Re-seat it with the T-key through the lifeline hole and the rubber gripper, tightening firmly every time you attach a tip. If a tip is genuinely faulty, ChiaoGoo will replace it, so contact us and we will help arrange it.
