What Patt Says About Graci:

Gracie is one of our first goats.  She has beautiful wide eyes that look at you with such affection.  I call her my Beautiful Angel face.  She is 100% angora and is always up for a nuzzle, of course one of the cookies in my pocket is welcome.  Her fleece is bright white with high shine.  See her cute photo with a funny face.

Info from Patt on how she started her farm:

What do you do after 40 years loving what you do in corporate?  Of course, you become a missionary in Mexico.  For 15 years we taught English to children living in the dump.  Such an adventure up until COVID, can’t teach.  So, we switched gears and bought land in Chattaroy, North of Spokane.  Of course, you need 3 goats and a couple chickens.  Things happen and now we have 30 angora and cashgora goats, of course they all have names and different personalities.  Oh yes, there are 50 plus chickens a llama, Jasper and 2 big dogs.  So much fun.  We focus on excellent food for our animals which means we grow a large veggie garden to supplement local hay and grain.  We have multiple pastures for their grazing and variety.  All the food goes into making great fleece.  No, we do not milk.  I am not up for sitting on a frozen stool when temps are below zero.  I get plenty of early morning goat conversation. feeding, petting, talking and giving cookies.

What is Angora Goat Fiber?

Angora goat fiber, better known as mohair, is one of the most beautiful and versatile natural fibers in the world. Prized for its glowing sheen and incredible strength, mohair adds a touch of luxury to any spinning, felting, or blending project.

Mohair fibers are smooth, resilient, and naturally lustrous, giving finished yarns a soft halo and gentle shimmer. Unlike wool, mohair has very little crimp, which creates yarns with wonderful drape and durability. It’s one of the strongest animal fibers, making it resistant to pilling and perfect for heirloom-quality garments and accessories.

Mohair is also wonderfully warm and breathable, the fibers trap air efficiently, creating lightweight yet cozy yarns. It blends beautifully with wool, silk, alpaca, and cashmere, adding shine, strength, and a delicate fluffy bloom to your handspun.

Why spinners love mohair:

  • Adds silky luster and a glowing halo

  • Increases durability and reduces pilling

  • Takes dye brilliantly for vibrant color

  • Warm yet lightweight with lovely drape

  • Easy to blend with other fibers

Whether spun on its own for a smooth, elegant yarn or blended to elevate your favorite fibers, angora goat fiber brings a special magic to the wheel.
