Two cord sets do opposite jobs. The shaft cords connect each shaft to its lever so the shaft lifts when you push. The elastic cords pull the shafts back down when you let go.
The elastics are the ones that go first. They stretch over years of use and lose their snap, and the tell is a shed that stops closing cleanly or a shaft that hangs half lifted. The Jane runs its cords over rollers rather than dragging them, so wear is slow, but it is not zero.
Both sets are supplied as a pack of eight, one per shaft. Pick your loom width and the set you need.

For Yarn, check your pattern's yardage requirements. A standard pair of socks usually takes 100g of fingering weight, while a hat takes about 100g of worsted.For Spinning Fiber, a standard 4oz braid will generally make a pair of socks or a hat. For larger garments like sweaters, you will likely need 1.5 to 2 lbs of fiber.Still unsure? Send us your project details! We are happy to do the math for you to ensure you don't run short.
