Soft and silky blend of BFL and Tussah Silk. 70% BFL and 30% Tussah Silk has traditionally been known as the ultimate in luxury. It is a versatile, all climate fiber that is cozy in the winter and comfortably cool as temperatures rise. It is naturally hypoallergenic, providing next-to-skin comfort on even the most sensitive skins. Silk contains natural amino acids that are very similar to humans, helping the skin absorb moisture and heal. It's smooth fiber surface resists soil and odors well, and its tensile strength competes with steel yarn, making it incredibly durable in addition to its lustrous beauty. Silk is wrinkle and tear resistant, producing garments that drape well and wear well.
Added to our lustrous silk is blue faced Leicester. BFL also dyes well and has a lovely sheen, blending well with the silk. It is also known for its strength and has more drape than merino. Its next-to-skin softness incorporates well with silk.
Both silk and BFL have relatively long staple lengths, making it nice to spin. Both fibers take up dye nicely, with their slight differences giving the finished project a unique effect. Over all, this marriage produces a close-to-skin, strong and shining yarn that you're guaranteed to love!
