Paradise Fibers Reclaimed Mongolian Cashmere - Assorted Colors

Real 100% Mongolian cashmere for a fraction of what combed cashmere top costs. Most spinners never cut into pricey combed cashmere just to experiment, so this is the one to reach for: reclaimed cashmere laps, rescued from Italian mill production, soft and lofty and affordable enough to actually play with.

Ways to use it

• A little upgrades a lot. Card 10% to 25% into Merino, BFL, or Corriedale and the whole batt takes on cashmere softness, halo, and a next-to-skin hand. One pack stretches across many projects.
• Instant color, no dye pot. The assorted pre-dyed shades drop tweed, confetti, and heather flecks straight into art batts and rolags, with no dyeing, mordanting, or drying required.
• Luxury where it touches skin. Because you only need a little, use it for the parts that matter most: a cowl or hat band, mitten and cuff linings, a collar, or a soft baby hat.
• Felting that feels expensive. 100% cashmere wet-, needle-, and nuno-felts to an ultra-soft hand, ideal for felted jewelry and brooches, nuno scarves, and small accessories.
• Soft singles and art yarn. Spin it woolen or short-draw for a lofty halo single, or add it as a tailspun or corespun accent.

A different mix every time

Every pack is an assorted blend of at least two colors, and each color comes in a range of tonal shades. The palette shifts from batch to batch, so no two orders look quite alike, and the colors are chosen by us.

About this fiber

These are reclaimed short-fiber cashmere laps, not a smooth combed top, so they are happiest carded and blended rather than spun straight from the bag. You may see the occasional nep or a little vegetable matter, which is normal for the grade and part of the tweedy character. The assorted colors are dyed in Italy in an Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified dye house under EU REACH chemical-safety rules.

Care

Because the fiber is dyed, test bright or dark shades on a small sample before a large project, and dry finished pieces in the shade rather than direct sun to keep the colors true. Hand wash and lay flat to dry.
