Smokey Jo White Local Cashgora Batts

These white Cashgora batts are hand-processed by a wonderful local farm! They are as soft as a kitten and light as a cloud. Patt carefully hand processes these batts from her goats! We love supporting Patt and helping her maintain her small & local farm. These batts come in various sizes. These specific ones come from Patts goat Smokey Jo!

What Patt Says About Smokey Jo:

Smokey Jo is a big cashgora that is all white with one black spot on his shoulder and the first baby born on the farm.  Such a handsome boy.  Of all things, he broke his leg as a baby and the vet taught us how to splint and change dressing.  He recovered well.  He is a huge white boy with shiny white curls.  Sometimes he likes to get away from the rest of the herd in the little playhouse.  Smokey Jo is on the right at the pumpkin party.  The dark on his back is from rubbing against the fence, it all comes out in the wash.

Info from Patt on how she started her farm: 

What do you do after 40 years loving what you do in corporate?  Of course, you become a missionary in Mexico.  For 15 years we taught English to children living in the dump.  Such an adventure up until COVID, can’t teach.  So, we switched gears and bought land in Chattaroy, North of Spokane.  Of course, you need 3 goats and a couple chickens.  Things happen and now we have 30 angora and cashgora goats, of course they all have names and different personalities.  Oh yes, there are 50 plus chickens a llama, Jasper and 2 big dogs.  So much fun.  We focus on excellent food for our animals which means we grow a large veggie garden to supplement local hay and grain.  We have multiple pastures for their grazing and variety.  All the food goes into making great fleece.  No, we do not milk.  I am not up for sitting on a frozen stool when temps are below zero.  I get plenty of early morning goat conversation. feeding, petting, talking and giving cookies.

What is Cashgora Fiber?

Cashgora is a wonderful and rare fiber that comes from Cashgora goats, a type of goat that is a cross between cashmere and angora goats. It's soft like cashmere and feels amazing against your skin. Unlike cashmere which is more of a matte fiber Cashgora has a subtle silky luster similar to mohair. It's also stronger than cashmere and more durable and is less likely to pill. Its longer staple length makes it easier to spin than cashmere too. You can also blend this with wool to add some softness!
