Named for the boldly marked Tiger Moth, this multi-colored merino top glows in bright orange and rust, running nearly solid across vivid, warm tones with only the faintest shifts between them.
This one reads close to solid, so splitting it gains you little. The value is in the small shifts along the length, and those show best drafted straight through, which also means eight ounces spun whole stays consistent from the first yard to the last.
Combed top, 19 micron, sold by the ounce and cut as one continuous length. Carding it or running it through a blending board mixes the colours into a single flat heather, which is a real yarn and a fine thing to want, but it is a one way trip.
