For the weaver for whom limited space doesn't mean limited options. The LeClerc Artisat Floor Loom is a wide, solid loom that gets the job done while still folding to a small depth. Its weight is kept to a minimum, and it's still sturdy enough for heavy work.
Available with 4 or 8 shafts, the Artisat is a good loom for projects of any complexity. It has an easily accessible shed and at least 6 treadles, so it takes any combination of tie-ups.
4 Shaft Jack Version:
The basic Artisat jack loom has 4 shafts and 6 front-mounted treadles. It can be upgraded later to 8 shafts with back hinge treadles. It uses a conventional system of jacks and lams, gives a very large shed, and folds to a narrow 14 inch depth when it's not in use.
8 Shaft Jack Version:
The Artisat 8 shaft loom has 10 front-mounted treadles and folds to a narrow 17 inch depth when it's not in use. It can be upgraded later to back hinge treadles. It uses a conventional system of jacks and lams.
8 Shaft Jack BHT Version:
The treadles are anchored at the back of the loom, and a rocker mechanism keeps even tension on every treadle cord whether the treadle is at rest or pressed down. That makes treadling an 8 shaft design as easy on the legs as a 4 shaft, with a wide, clean shed on every shaft. It still folds like the original Artisat, using its own folding procedure.
