The Jane is Louet's folding table loom. It folds flat to 21 cm (8 1/4 In) with the warp still on, so a project in progress rides along to a guild night or a class and comes home without being cut off the loom.
The shaft cords run over rollers, so they don't wear where they'd otherwise drag, and the overhead beater swings clear of the shed instead of sitting in the shuttle's way. It's lacquered beech with a raddle built into the castle, and it arrives partly assembled.
The Jane comes in three weaving widths: 50 cm (19-3/4 In), 70 cm (27-1/2 In) and 90 cm (35-1/2 In).
Which shaft count
Start with the 16-shaft if you already know you'll weave the drafts. It comes with the shuttle race fitted. The 8-shaft expandable is built on the same deeper frame, so the extension kit takes it to 16 shafts later without replacing the loom. Buying in two steps, with the extension kit and the shuttle race added later, costs more in total than starting at 16.

A 40/10 stainless steel reed (about 10 ends per inch), two apron bars, two lease sticks, sixteen warp sticks and 205 mm Texsolv heddles, 800 on the 8-shaft and 1,600 on the 16-shaft.

Warp length
On a table the Jane holds about 6 to 10 yards, depending on the yarn: nearer 10 in a fine cotton like 2/8, nearer 6 in a 4-ply wool. On the floor stand the cloth and warp beams move into the stand, which takes the warp to about 20 yards.
