The Standard Fast whorl gives the Kromski Minstrel its 12 and 16:1 ratios, the faster pair of the wheel's four. Higher ratios put more twist into each treadle, which finer yarn needs to hold together.

The Minstrel comes with one, so this is the spare or the replacement. The slower 6.5 and 8.5:1 come from the Minstrel Standard Slow whorl. Past 16:1 there's the Extra Fast whorl at 25:1. Kromski's other whorls are in our Kromski whorl collection.

The smaller one. The Minstrel's bobbin has two pulleys. Kromski's manual sets the larger pulley towards the outside and pairs the smaller pulley with the small, fast whorl.
No. On the Minstrel, single or double drive comes from how the band is routed, not from the parts, so Kromski makes one Standard Fast whorl and it works in either mode.
