The LeClerc sectional warp beam is a set of four rake-like pieces that attach to the plain warp beam on your LeClerc floor loom. Every LeClerc floor loom ships with a beam that is already drilled for them, so nothing on the loom is replaced: the rakes screw into the holes that are there.
The rakes divide the beam into sections that you wind one at a time, each at full warp length, straight from spools. It lets one person beam a long warp evenly without a helper. On an Artisat each turn of the beam holds about 16 inches of warp, and on the Nilus, Nilus II, Fanny, Mira, Colonial, Kebec and Nilart about 19 inches.
1 Inch or 2 Inch Sections
Each section is fed by one spool per warp end, so the section width sets how many spools you need. A 1 inch section at 24 ends per inch takes 24 spools, and a 2 inch section at the same sett takes 48. The 1 inch set is the usual choice, and a 40-spool bobbin stand covers it up to 40 ends per inch.
What Else You Need
Sectional warping also uses a tension box on the back beam, a bobbin stand to hold the spools, 4 inch plastic spools, and a bobbin winder to fill them. A yardage counter on the tension box keeps every section the same length, and dividers keep a long warp building up evenly.
