The Majacraft Wheel Skeiner turns your spinning wheel into a skein winder. It goes on the flyer shaft in place of the flyer and bobbin, so your finished yarn comes off the bobbin and into a skein right at the wheel, no niddy noddy needed.

It fits the flyer shaft of Majacraft wheels, and the arms are American ash to match them.

Setting it up

  1. Screw two pegs into each end of the plain arm, and two into the slotted arm at the end away from the slot.
  2. Push the long sliding peg through the slot from the same side as the others, then fit the washer and black lock nut. Where you lock this peg sets the skein size, and you can loosen it and move it any time.
  3. Take the flyer and bobbin off the wheel. On a scotch tension wheel, hang the brake band out of the way.
  4. Slide the black spacer onto the flyer shaft, slot the two arms together at the centre into a cross, slide it on with the pegs facing away from the wheel, and snug it up with the wooden nut.

Turn the drive wheel gently by hand to wind. The skeiner rides on the flyer shaft, so it's made for an easy hand turn rather than treadling at speed.
