SpinOlution Hopper Spinning Wheels

The Hopper is SpinOlution's original art yarn wheel, built with the lowest bottom ratio in the line for spinning thick, expressive yarns. Grab on to the built-in handle to carry it locally; it's too wide to fit as airline carry-on luggage. With it's multiple flyer options, spin your favorite fibers into a work of art. This unique wheel has state of the art SpinOlution engineering, with multiple speeds, for a smooth spinning experience.

Built to order at SpinOlution's California facility. Approximately 4 to 6 weeks from order to ship.

One of our favorite features of the SpinOlution wheel collection is the Magnetic Hook Orifice & Bobbins. Set-up is easy & you'll be spinning in no time with your Hopper!

Now ships with the 2026 birch-tone 3D-printed PETG whorl. Same ratios as the 2023 to 2025 black PETG whorl, with an updated finish for visual cohesion across the wheel.

The open hook orifice allows you to spin bulky, ply creative, or add embellishments. A tube orifice accessory is also available to add to any flyer head if you prefer spinning with a closed orifice.

Ratios

The Hopper is a two stage drive, so each flyer has a low set and a high set of four, selected by the thick rear band. The 8 oz runs 1:1.5 to 1:4.5 low and 1:6 to 1:15 high; the 16 oz runs 1:2 to 1:8 low and 1:4 to 1:18 high; the 32 oz runs 1:1 to 1:3 low and 1:5 to 1:11 high. The three flyer sizes do not share a set.

The sets overlap. On the 16 oz the fastest low position (1:8) is quicker than the slowest high position (1:4), so position order is not speed order. SpinOlution's Hopper ratio guide carries no date or whorl label, and their 2018 summary lists the Hopper as not a Golden Whorl wheel, so treat these as the figures for that era.
